OK then same to you. Also, did the keyboard work when you booted from cd or network into Windows PE? I have had this happen a few times.
As soon as the next screen, the initial Windows XP loading screen, loads, the keyboard is dead. If the OS is installed, doesn’t mean that a keyboard would have been used in this system the keyboard is the first device configured, can’t do anything without it.

I’d do a malware scan as well as a physical inspection of the system for bad capacitors, popped heatsinks, etc. After no avail, and frustration with Windows xp, I reformatted the hard drive and installed Windows 7. I was considering a WinPE disk or similar to overwrite the keyboard driver, in case it has somehow become corrupt. Wrong Optiples drivers are there in the cache, your Net drivers are probably incorrect as well.

Apr 28, Posts: I have tried all of the obvious solutions try another keyboard, try kb on another PC, etc. There is a option in the bios to turn off notification of KB errors, the bios on a Optiplex has no way to see or use a wireless KB thus the error message.
