Xleveland love the XL. I just got an XLS with the gold shaft today. Though the standard XLS is supposed to have a square clubface, it feels closed.

Compared to the Cleveland HiBore Monster XLS range, the Cleveland Launcher driver is more of a players club as the higher moment of inertia means it is easier to work the ball with this club. Before purchasing the club, I got on the good ole swing monitor and did some comparisions. Good club- Average price.

In our tests we were impressed by how easy it was to hit long, straight drives with the Monster and the high MOI design meant even off centre hits hibor airborne and stayed reasonably straight.
I aim down the right side of the fairway and mash this thing. I have no problem working this club on the tee box.
And remember, this was not the XLS Draw. I love this club. I am a 13 handicap and as I am getting older and my swing speed has slowed a bit, the graphite shafts have helped both in decreasing the overall weight of the irons, which has helped me maintain some swing speed, and have reduced the vibration which you get with a steel shafted club.

I had already switched to a Hi-Bore driver. Even a hard practicing pro like Vijay Singh had trouble with his driving once he switched over to the hibore from the launcher range.
If you get the right shaft in this driver it seems impossible to miss the fairway!!!! Given the size and design of the head there is a noticeable impact sound which will appeal to some.

The Monster XLS has close to the maximum legal moment of inertia allowing it to produce fantastic ball speed on every drive.
The Red is the heavier weight, lower torque version with a higher kick point than the Gold. My typical swing with the original HiBORE produced drives that flew wedge-shot high, very straight… and about as far as a 3-wood.
